Other Kids
I do have kids other than my daughter. Here are the "Hurray, Soccer is over parties." But really, HURRAY, SOCCER IS OVER!!
Finally!
When we lived in Turkey, I LOVED to go the the Ladies Market. The cute little ladies would sell their handmade goods for a steal! I just couldn't help myself. I bought a few outfits before I knew that Noah would be a boy. I have kept these outfits in hopeful anticipation that one day I'd be able to put them on a female child of mine! The day has finally come. I wish I'd have picked up a few more but, Darin thought that I was being silly all those years ago anyway. I love this little outfit, and I love this little girl (Christian too)!

Only Paul Revere's Son
One Halloween around 4th grade I was Paul Revere. My mom had made me a great costume. One of those where it looks like I was sitting on a horse and yet my legs were the horses legs. I thought it was cool.
My mom has always been so fabulous with Halloween and the costumes. I have not. I don't know why, because I am great at the decorations, the food, the fun. The costumes...not so much. We have recycled our costumes many times. I have a lion costume that has been worn by every boy, twice...8 Halloween Lions. Anya will be a lion next year. And the next (sorry mom).

Davis is of the age that he wants to make up something and make me actually work to create a costume. He knows me too well, he thinks of things that we haven't had one of before. This year he was a doctor, no a vampire, no doctor, that works at the local blood bank. Looking for donations...ha, get it a vampire looking for blood donations...Davis is so 6 th grade clever.
Jag got spoiled and I bought his ninja costume (All of the neighborhood boys are going to be ninjas) at WalMart for a whopping $7 bucks! Even black sweats were going to be more than that. I hope that Noah wants to be a ninja in a few years, maybe 3 years. I am already working on reviving the jedi from 2 years ago for his next Halloween.
We carved pumpkins on Friday, Tom Sawyer style. Just start out on the front driveway as the kids are coming home from school and pretty soon all the neighbors are here wanting to know if they can clean out the seeds and help with the pumpkins. Oh, alright...he, he, he. That is such a dad job around here, I was thrilled to have the kids take over.
Halloween started early with Friday being our church Trunk or Treat and fall festival. Jag hated the thought of ONLY trunk or treating and not trick or treating, but got enough of a haul that the tears dried up.

Saturday I made the Halloween donuts, once again not on Halloween. We had a lot of friends and neighbors stop by and I think that I made around 130 donuts.
We've had a Halloween weekend and I am glad that it is over. Glad that tomorrow is November and we are one more month closer to Darin coming home. I am worn out from all the holiday fun intermixed with all the soccer-not-so-much-fun.
Well, only Paul Revere's son would want to be Abe Lincoln for Halloween.

This year I am reliving the year of the skeletons. Noah has Christian's old costume and Anya has Jaggy's. Noah can be a skeleton in another 2 years if he would like.

| Davis had spilled fake blood on the scrubs while fixing up his face. He was so mad that he'd mess up his costume. I told him that people and vampire spill at the blood bank all the time, but he didn't care. |

| I made chocolate, cinnamon-sugar, sprinkles, maple and glazed. Maple and glazed were the favorites. |
I think that the Abe Lincoln would have made my Halloween-costume-loving mother proud. It wasn't hard, but it was good. As I was making it, I started remembering my childhood costumes. Paul Revere, the Pink Panther, a Nun. Then there was the year my brother was the Empire State Building. Or how about a Hammer Head Shark. I should be a little more like my mom, but for now I will continue to hope that Jag wants to be a president next year. I love you mom.
