Another Photo

I needed to post another picture because apparently his "self done haircut" didn't show up too well in the past pictures. I have to trick him in order to take a picture. If I tell him that I am going to take his picture, he runs and hides. He doesn't want me to send a picture to his dad. He still knows that he is in trouble!

I can't wait for his hair to grow back. Noah reminds me that "hair grows" and "don't worry mom" whenever I growl about his hair. At least it isn't his sister!

Hard Lessons Learned

It seems like all the lessons that are remembered are the lessons that are learned the hard way. Noah is learning life lessons this week. Noah is really sad that he has to learn these, but then again, so am I.

Life lesson #1: Biting people isn't funny or nice. We don't bite friends when laughing, we don't bite brothers when angry. He had been warned that biting would have an unpleasant consequence, but really he wants to learn things the hard way. He tried to bite just one more time (what kind of kid just decides one day that biting might be a good thing?) and then the consequence of soap in his mouth...yes, he may blame me for blindness later in life. All the boys have had soap for one reason or another, but they usually move or squirm, so it is kind of a half-soaping. Noah got a full-soaping. I kind of felt bad about it. He was screaming and crying and then the best was when he started to blow soap bubbles out his nose. I knew at that moment that a life lesson had been learned.
[I couldn't possibly take a picture while laughing or else it would have defeated the purpose of the punishment. Too bad, it was funny.]

Life lesson #2: Scissors are meant to cut paper. Really only a picture is needed for this lesson.

This is the consequence picture. When he looked in the mirror, he FREAKED!! I threw him in the tub to wash the hair and snot off of him. He was kicking and screaming. He then got tossed into bed. If he hadn't learned life lesson #1, I know for a fact, I would have had to deal with the teeth. He was so angry with me that he started running in circles, growling and crying.

I am learning the hard way how to parent a Noah! He takes all of my patience and all of my consistency. So mad that I wasted my time a week ago giving him a nice haircut. So glad that it isn't time for him to get his picture taken. This is a lesson that will be around for quite awhile.

School Days

Oh how sad that summer is over! The boys are off to school again.

Davis the 6th grader. (Who came home from his first day of school declaring the year as horrible. He was going to wash his hands of the 6th grade because "some people just don't know how to make anything fun or exciting!" After a pep talk and his hour long Pity Party...we've moved on and he is going to have a more open mind about 6th grade.) How can my baby, the one that I quit teaching 6th grade for, be starting 6th grade? We totally would have loved eachother back in my teaching days!

Christian the 4th grader. (Who came home complaining that school was horrible-joined right in on the Pity Party that was going on- because...wait for it....that's right recesses are too short. Doesn't every kid complain about that? Oh and for good merit he through in a "I don't even have any friends" even though his good buddy from 4 houses down sits right next to him.)

Jag the Homeschooled 1st grader! Love the attire! I searched high and low to find a pair of rain boots to go with his first day of school outfit, but none to be found. He is the only one who said, "I can't wait for tomorrow because I LOVE school." Awesome teacher, that's what I say!

Actually, he did get dressed. Wore a new shirt for the occasion and even regular shoes. But the last picture was funny! Noah is doing preschool and thinks that he is the best letter T writer that there is! He's right.
Noah making T's with Popsicle sticks all over the kitchen.

I had to throw in one picture of the Princess just because. Isn't she darling?!

The Birthday Kiwi

This is how Darin's office celebrated his birthday. He will never forget his flaming kiwi and the birthday in Afghanistan.
Darin has been eating tons of kiwi's and the boss knew that it was a favorite food, the kiwi then became the perfect cake.
He mentioned that he had received a lot of emails from family and friends. It was nice that everyone remembered him, because he wouldn't tell anyone that it was his birthday. He knew that we all thought of him.
I plan to make him a German Chocolate Cake when he gets home, but I think that a flaming kiwi will now become a birthday tradition.

Nice Bow on that Boy

Anya is NOT a boy!

We are having hair issues. After 4 boys, I don't know how to do girl hair. Heck, I barely do my own hair anymore. But, after the boys, I AM going to do Anya's hair. At first I tried putting a curl down the center, but thanks to today's boy styles, more than one person commented on her Mohawk. Curl, not mohawk.

So we've tried some other styles, bow, barrette, fluffy puffy, and headband. I've made bows and velcro barrettes with flowers attached, but still people ask me if she is a boy. People use the wrong pronoun when talking about him?/her. She is sitting in a pink car seat wearing girly clothes and it isn't enough, she must have her hair done. But How!?

I have 4 boys and I really want #5 to be a girl. I guess hair won't change that, but it would be nice if people noticed that she was a girl.

Fluffy Puffy

Tiny bow

Barrette

Headband, her least favorite. She always manages to get it over her eyes.

Curl stretched out into a fabulous Mohawk.

The Obsession

Davis and Christian are obsessed with this video and song. They are constantly singing this song. All through dinner. While brushing their teeth. When doing their chores. Singing, singing, singing. I am going to go crazy if I have to hear them answer my questions with a "You must use the force..." one more time.

Darin

Afghanistan 2010

This is who Darin spends his time with. Lt. Col...., paralegals... him. He says that it is a good office and that he really likes those he works with. He is working in an old Soviet tower and he loves the Russian feel of it. He is doing well and keeping busy. He even takes time out to play some BINGO (he calls it free money) and has been quite lucky. I think he's won about $75.

His birthday is next week (19th) and he will be gone once again...he's always gone for his birthday. If you have some time, drop him a letter, he'd love to hear from you.

He has his regular email or you can actually drop something in the mail.

We miss him.

All Dressed Up

The boys love it when Anya wears a dress. It is something just so new to them. They love the cuteness and girlishness of it all. As soon as she is dressed for church, boys come a running to see what she looks like. Then they line up begging for me to take their picture with her. She is going to think she is perfect with such a group of admirers. Lucky Girl.

School Shopping

School shopping with 5 kids is giving me a headache. Thank you very much grandpa and grandma Fawcett for buying all the kids new shoes. One less thing on my list is a good thing. They all went to Park City (and I stayed back with the baby, by myself!) and each kid got to pick out their own shoes...any pair they wanted. Look at all the fancy feet.

Who Taught Him That!

Noah got mad at Davis. Nothing new. What is new, is that Noah now knows how to spit a big snot ball (complete with the noise needed to create one- ewww). I know this because Davis came squealing and laughing to find me with one hanging off of his cheek. Noah spit in Davis's face. Who in Utah taught my son that? He didn't do that before, and none of his brothers would think of doing that....

He is still wiping his mouth to remove the hot sauce.

Spitting in faces?! What will I do with #4?

The Best Parade Ever

We LOVE the 24th of July Parade in Salt Lake City! My boys would be heart broken if we didn't attend. Last year we moved to TX in July and didn't make the parade. The entire day of the 24th the boys whined about what they should be/would be doing if they were in Utah. Hurray, that didn't happen again. Lots of pictures of our favorite parts of the parade.

Every parade starts out with Silly String wars, usually started by Dallas. He isn't the innocent victim that he may appear to be.

Dusty getting attacked.

Anya slept through the parade while wearing her band muffling blanket ear protection.

My dad and Grandma Davis. They came of their own free will!! I had to take a picture of that.

Rooster and Sasha danced and clapped their way through the parade. They've got the moves.

Our favorite part of the parade were the people who were there. We loved spending the time with our family!
Christian loved throwing poppers at people. Jag liked gathering up the used Silly String into a big gross ball. Noah liked sitting on grandma's lap and eating taffy with her. And surprise, surprise, Davis loved pointing out all the instruments in all the bands. (I think that I am going to be watching him march one day. Good thing I love parades.)
This was the last thing before our drive home started.

Camping in the Spruces

We were lucky enough to be in UT during the Allred Annual Camping trip. It is always a wonderful experience. One that my boys always want to attend. We just go up Big Cottonwood canyon, so really close, but fabulous camping fun. All the kids have been camping by the time they were 3 months old, but I whimped out and only went for one night. My mom took Davis and Christian for the first night and then the 3 little ones and I came for the second night. The weather was fantastic and we were able to have fires, which made it both fun and dangerous...just a few burns to mention. Think flaming, hot, marshmallows and then you know.

Lest anyone think I was adventurous to take 5 kids camping by myself you must know that I took total advantage of my family. Mitch set up my tent. Brian, mom, and Mitch put it down and help load the car. Jay held Anya and changed many diapers. Grandma, Manette, and Jon cooked and slaved while I sat in a chair. My boys played with cousin after cousin, went on many adventure hikes with grandparents, and followed Mitchell everywhere. I sat in a chair.

Camping was fantastic and I was lazy. Sorry family that we just showed up and let you do all the work. We had a terrific time, Thanks!

Now for all the pictures of the adventure.

Anya happy to be camping.

Cute Guy!

Hanging out with Jaylynn.

He really is having a fantastic time, he just refuses to smile. Thanks Darin for making my boys think that only fools smile in pictures.

He isn't picking his nose. He is showing me his burn that is between his fingers.

Playing cards is one of the best parts of camping.

I didn't get any pictures of the boys on snake hunts or of the billion trips down the hill while sitting on a skateboard, only to crash and burn just moments after your mother warns you. I should have taken more pictures.
