Davis' Baby

Davis and his new baby.
He spends a lot of time polishing his French Horn.  I just hope he spends a lot of time practicing.
He is in Love!

I Thought I Was Happy About School Getting Out

I thought that I was happy about school getting out.  The last 2 weeks of school were FILLED with
band concerts,

Davis' spring concert

Davis and good friend Cooper
 choir performances,
Christian's choir performance.  He is in the front middle with shorts and a red shirt.  He only does half of the hand movements because he doesn't want to look stupid.
 talent shows,
Davis and Cooper in the Wilder talent show.  Sax and French horn.

honors night, 4th grade awards assembly, ORFF (xylophone) performances, more awards assemblies, class parties, pack meeting, and 3 birthdays.  I thought that I would be thrilled to have summer vacation without the constant on-the-go life.  I thought that I was going to love having my children around all the time.  Thought.  School ended on Thursday.  Friday afternoon Darin received a call that changed everything...
we are now rushing to get everything together in order to move to Germany next month.  So far we have had 7 doctors appointments, 4 dentist appointments, passport appointments and ID card appointments.  We have waited countless hours for the said doctors and wasted time in lines.  The boys are thinking that summer is crappy and I am trying not to agree.  Trying to stay positive.

This is where my problem is.  I have lost control of my life.  Why do I feel this deep need to make my kids do "school work" everyday?  Why am I still on them about chores and reading minutes?  My life is in chaos that is why.  I need to have control over something.  Even if that means school work everyday.  Even if that means that every night feels like Sunday night.  You know what I mean, the kids have been inside and together too long.  They can't stop teasing, wrestling, fighting, crying and making up stupid songs and I count down until they all go to bed.

The good part about this is that it is happening fast.  Thus, it will be over fast.  Then, I will have chaos and no control in a foreign country.  But, our school books will be on a slow boat and we will just have to like each other because that is all we will know.

Whatever She Wants

Darin LOVES his little girl.

He has a hard time not giving her whatever she wants.

The Princess wants a castle.

SO...we are moving to Germany.  The official word came on Friday afternoon, and they want us there by the end-ish part of July (that's military for short-notice).  This is going to be a crazy adventure for us.  We are excited for what is to come, but there is going to be a lot of work before then.  We will, however, be able to give the Princess castles for 3 years.

Anything for his little girl.

Turkish Night

We had to have a Turkish night with the best Turks here in San Antonio.  No, they really aren't Turks, but the Wall's were in Turkey too.   I gave a few cooking lessons and then we enjoyed an awesome feast.  I LOVE Turkish food!  I love enjoying Turkish food with great friends.

Chicken Tava and rice, borek, hummus, cheese bread, tomatoes and cucumbers with Nar and even some delicious tutku (cookies).  Yummy.

Memorial Day and Canyon Lake

We went to Canyon Lake for Memorial Day.  It was easier this year because Anya wasn't a week old.
The boys were supposed to be in school making up their "snow day," but we celebrate Memorial Day in our family.  It's a military thing, or maybe the snow day on Memorial was just a lame thing.
The wind was blowing really hard, so the boys thought that the water was too cold to get into for very long (the air temp was like 96, poor babies).  They ended up playing in the sand most of the time.  I ended up trying to keep the sand they tossed out of my eyes.

Anya wasn't too sure about the water and the sand.

Seriously, bathing beauty!  Those thighs were meant to be shown.

No swimming suit for me.

Davis and Christian were gone to the nearby playground.  Only Noah and Jag would "tough out" the windy weather.
The boys!
It was a great way to spend a day skipping school.  Darin says that maybe we were teaching the boys the wrong lesson, I think I was teaching them that Memorial Day is for family.
