Spare Time

Without baseball to occupy our every night, we have been wondering what to do with ourselves. So the boys and I have been hanging out at the park from just after dinner until bedtime. An absolutely perfect way to spend our nights. Noah isn't happy unless he is flying super high in the swing (like his is about to dump out).

For Rent

After a lot of worry, we have rented our home! It was truly a blessing. I feel like my little Baptist neighbor in Turkey, "Thank you Jesus, " hands raised high in the air. Now I think that I may be able to leave Tucson without totally cracking under the pressure of the move. Have I mentioned that I HATE moving?

Part two: Find me a home in Texas. As I have been looking on-line I wonder...why do people take photos of toilets? With the seat UP? I am very against an up seat. What about the photo that is posted of an unmade bed? Am I setting my standards too high? I have been amazed at what people have posted with their For Rent ad.

Maybe that is why my home rented so very quickly (it took the lady less than 5 minutes to check out), I close the toilet seat, pick up the trash, and make my bed...please rent my home. Thank you Jesus!

The Old-Fashioned Way

Our TV remote control has run out of batteries. I haven't wanted to go to the store yet, so for the past few days, we have changed the channels the "old fashioned way" -with our fingers.

It has gotten me to thinking about my childhood and our TV. I remember sitting in front of the television turning the channels for my dad. I was his remote. I would have to adjust the second knob every time we wanted to watch channel 21. Then with a twist of the antenna- we could watch TV.

My kids don't know what it was like. They will have to remember the time that the batteries ran out and mom didn't rush out to get more.

Jag was watching TV and I told him to turn it off.

He said, "I can't find the remote."

I told him to turn it off with his finger.

He looked at me and laughingly said, "How? Like this?"

Now imagine him putting his 2 hands in front of himself and giving a lightning, you're being shocked, sound. It looks a lot like the Emperor in Star Wars. I just laughed and then showed him how to push the button to turn it off.

I think I will wait until the weekend to get batteries just so we can continue to relive a piece of my childhood (and make the boys grateful for batteries).

Preparing for our Move

I could be packing things up, or touching up the paint. I need to be finding a renter or someone to buy the van. There are many things that I should be doing to get ready for our upcoming move. I am however, talking to the kids about Texas and the Alamo. The Mexican-American War has been a part of our home for 2 weeks, and the boys think that Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie were cool.

We are preparing for our move by making gingerbread "Alamo's."

(Davis thinks that an Alamo would be a perfect gift to give neighbors at Christmas time, I agree...won't you be our neighbor?)

Bare Minimums

If we go to the pool on a regular basis, am I also required to bathe the kids? Isn't once on Saturday night good enough? Why wash the sunscreen off if I am just going to put it back on?

I am really sounding lazy right now...oh well, off to the pool/tub.

Food Storage Part 2

Tomato Soup.

What is there to do with a can of soup besides eat it as soup? I have a case of soup and 3 weeks to eat it...

Having a Ball

Davis had his Baseball Birthday Party on Saturday. He wanted a Detroit Tigers MLB pennant cake. They went to the batting cages, then back home for food and a game of water balloon baseball. It was a fun time for all, especially me... I knew it was the last birthday party for another year. The birthday season is finally over.
