Finally!

Davis finally saved enough money to buy himself a motor scooter. He has been saving every penny for a year. All birthday money, holiday money, random wonderful money baring cards from grandparents... all money has been put aside (except for this 10% tithing and 20% savings of course :0 ). I felt a little bad about the fact that I was so inconsistent with allowance funds. He has not a nickle to his name, but a smile is constantly plastered on his little face. There is nothing like the satisfaction of working for and earning something you really want.
This is as much of a smile as he could muster...he was trying to be the cool boy on the scooter.

Stump And Bacon

My big leg is the ugly part of being pregnant. Things have gotten worse with each child, and this girl is doing number on my body. My leg, just the right one, swells and is really ugly. Darin calls it a stump or my sausage. My toes look mostly normal, but I am getting a crease at the base (where the toes meet with the foot)...who has a toe crease?! At least the weather is getting warmer and I can cram my stump (Darin's words) into a flip flop.

(I think I had an ankle there once.)
(I'm not going to show the entire leg, that would be too scary.)

Sometimes I wear lovely support hose in a grandma nude shade. The other day Davis noticed my lovely "tan" and said, "Wow, look what pregnancy is doing to your skin color. That is cool." I said that it was anything but cool, but the boy insisted that he liked it. I finally removed my slipper and told him that pregnancy was also giving me webbed toes. Then he realized that they were socks, not skin. Disappointed.

Noah loves my belly. He loves to rub and kiss it. Mostly he loves to look at the thing that used to be a cute inney belly button. He looks at it and tells me that it looks like there's bacon in it. What?! Bacon, he swears there's bacon in my button. Could be, I guess, I have a hard time seeing what I've dropped down there.

Random Ramblings

I haven't blogged for a bit because I feel like I either have nothing to say or so much to say that nothing comes out. Either way, nothing really has been happening, although constant thoughts of "I ought to put that on the blog" come to me throughout my day, I just don't.

These are just random thoughts.

I have really, really strange dreams. Strange people doing strange things all combined with primary music in the background. It all means nothing to me, but every morning I wake and wonder WHY did I spend all night doing that.

Noah told Jag that his bum was a weapon. I think that could be true for all boys in my house.

Soccer, baseball and scouts have taken over my life. From now until baby I will live in the car.

Speaking of cars. One day while in the middle of a crazy rainstorm, taking the kiddos to school (we were at the store because Christian remembered last minute he needed to take soda), I closed the van door and it came off in my hands. It was super heavy. I managed to swear and muscle it back into place enough to close part of it and get home. Darin worked on fixing it for days. I drove it one day, then it decided not to start anymore. Now I have a dead van in my front yard. At least the door is shut. Who knows what will come of poor Turk the Octovan.

I have one leg that is larger than the other. I can't even put a shoe on my foot. I am having a case of bad leg veins this pregnancy. I still have long enough to go that I am worried that elephantus will be setting in soon. I am a fine sight to look at. I am just super glad that I am cold all the time instead of hot, because I just can't wear anything shorter than footie PJs.

I am really glad that I won't be seeing any friends or family before I deliver. The last 2 boys I managed to show up, after a long time away, nine months pregnant and the size of a house. Not exactly the impression that I like to give.

I am going to be bigger than ever with this baby. I can't stop eating. I really have NO self control. I have yet to go to the Dr and have them tell me that I only gained 2 pounds. I think that I am going to have to chain up the food by month 8 to insure that I don't weigh more than
Darin.

Jag has become a wonderful reader! I love being able to hand him a book and tell him to read to Noah while I... Finally.

8 almost 9 year old boys cry a lot.

Christian's teeth are coming in horribly. The poor boy has teeth facing in every direction. But he still has a contagious smile.

Should I paint the pink room now or later? After several visitors and several comments, I think it doesn't matter that it is pink and I am having a girl. It is a terrible room.

I look at the pink room as my field of dreams. If you build it she will come. Maybe I'll paint after I see that it is a girl.

Still doubting that I am having a girl. My luck is really, really bad right now. I think that I am going to have a boy, 2 weeks overdue, in the front entry way, and my husband will be gone. We will name him George.

10 almost 11 year old boys are really obnoxious.

Davis and Jag make the most hideous noises. Just random, out of nowhere, honking noises. All the time!

Davis will be a band geek forever. He LOVES, LOVES his french horn. He can talk forever about it. He played Oh Canada a lot during the Olympics. Gold Medal, super, grab the horn.

Noah likes to play the french horn as well. I think I will have a loud house for years to come.

I can't remember most of what I was thinking about. I am losing my mind daily. See mostly just nothingness rattling around in my mind, making my dreams outrageous.

The Noahsaurs Is 3

Noah wanted a dinosaur cake.

As I started to "carve" the cake into what I thought was a dino shape, a nice boy called it a dog. So I added another "fin" on the back and shortened the snout part. Then another nice boy pulled out the sheet of dinosaur pictures on it and tried to identify which one I was making. His conclusion was that it wasn't really any of them. That is when I gave up and decided to put spots on the cake and make it unlike any other dinosaur they had seen. I called it a Noahsaurs and told them it could look like anything I wanted. Davis comes in the room to look at the finished cake -a Noahsaurs?! There actually is a dinosaur named Noahsaurs, and it looks nothing like that one. Oh, it is a carnivore, so I guess the teeth are right.

Thanks boys!

Noah thought it was great, he is only 3 and doesn't really KNOW dinosaurs yet.

This is my 3rd dinosaur cake and there is only so many ways to make a different cake. I really hope that it is the last dinosaur cake that I make.

Felt, Felt, Felt

This is Noah's Birthday gift from his momma.

Curse that Jaylynn for telling me about the website, homemade by Jill, and for turning my freetime into a felt frenzy. The original was one that was made to go over the kitchen table. MY purpose for making such a house was to keep Noah from making one ON the kitchen table. He makes houses everywhere, out of every pillow and blanket he can find. I wanted a house that fit on a card table, and I could put it where ever I wanted him to play. It has been a big hit for all the boys. He enjoys sitting inside and watching TV through the window. (It didn't take as long as I thought it might.)

Visitors

We recently had a few visitors! Dad, Cathy, Drew and Preslee came for a few days. Too bad that we were in the middle of a horrible rainy period. We still made sure to see the sights. We went to the Alamo and Riverwalk during the storm. The boys were in school (and happy they didn't have to see the "boring Alamo" again), and I was happy that I didn't have to take complainers.

We did get a few days of nice weather. We let the boys skip school and went to the zoo and ice cream instead.

Preslee was afraid of the birds and would only get this close for 1 photo.

We spent a beautiful Saturday on Market Street. We watched some Mexican dancers, shopped and ate. It was lots of fun, but I didn't get any pictures of it. I lost my camera :( Only to have it show up in the box of goldfish crackers a day later.

We also spent Sunday lounging, eating and watching the Super Bowl. Hurray, Davis' team won. Although some of the "fans" at our house were switching sides in the middle of the game. Davis was loyal to the end, and grumpy with the "switchers."

We had a great time with family.

Pinewood Derby

I'm finally back from my blogging vacation and ready to post about the wonderful Pinewood Derby.

We do things a bit different with our derby cars. First, the boys receive their block of wood then I calculate how quickly we need to send the blocks to grandpa Davis. The boys draw on their block and we ship them to grandpa. Grandpa cuts them out, fills them with weight, and sends them back. The boys spend a Saturday sanding and priming the cars. Then paint. They aren't fancy like the cars I remember from my brothers, but the boys like them. I convinced Davis that nobody would know that his checkers were from a Sharpie and not paint. I convinced Christian that using red fingernail polish to paint the stripe was super cool, and shiny. Add a few stickers and done!

The cars usually always do well, but this year we had a few problems. Davis had a car that wanted to jump the track right before the finish line -EVERY TIME! Christian was just glad to be participating. The boys had a race off and Davis won Last Place! They were pleased with their awards of "Best Paint Job" (Davis) and "Judges Favorite" (Christian). All I can say is, at least Christian didn't do too much better than Davis. I would rather have two OK cars, than one great car and one crying boy.

Thanks Grandpa! Next year, only 1 car.
