Another Visitor

Mom left on Monday and grandma came to visit on Saturday.  I am getting spoiled with help during the month of December.  She was around to help teach me to make divinity...She is laughing because both the divinity and the foil are stuck to her hands.  It reminded me so much of Christmas Vacation when Clark has so much sap on his hands from the tree.  We laughed, but it all tasted fine to me.

I let her out of the house once and took her on a boat ride down on the River walk.  Most of the time I kept her busy working!  I loved having visitors and helpers.

The Funny Face

She makes this face that just makes me laugh.  Her eyes go wide, she shows her gums, and then she stiffens up and shakes.  She is just being silly.  It is my favorite.

Yummy

This has got to be one of my absolutely favorite stages that a baby goes through.  The feet sucking is so awesome.  As my mom said, "She is quite flexible for a fat girl."

Who Is Going To Tell Him?

This is Darin's car. Who is going to tell him that it was totalled and he will have to drive something else? I really don't want the job. It was a hit-and-run, in front of my house.

This picture is taken from where the car was parked before it was hit.

Fortunately, I have an observant neighbor who was outside checking mail and got the licence plate of the driver.  He also had a description of the truck and which direction it drove.  I have another neighbor who jumped in his car and went to hunt down the driver.  He came back with the home address to give to the police.  I had 2 neighbors hear the crash and come running out to help and hold my baby.

The police brought back a 16 year old girl and then asked me "What do you want us to do with her?"  Really, they let me choose.  I wanted her scared.  They got her out of their car, walked her over to me and then left her with me.  I then was able to give her my very best lecture.  I didn't even cry.  I was mad, but I didn't shout,  I just growled.  She cried and said "Yes, ma'am."

The car was totalled.  The insurance is still working on it.  I've had to do this once before.  Darin was away at army boot camp and our car was totalled when it was parked, the truck drove off then too.  Why?!  Why!  This is just another reason that I HATE being a single mom.  Another thing that I just don't want to deal with.
Another reason to curse, don't we all need another reason to curse?

So, who wants to call Afghanistan?

One Of Those Days

Poor Nutcracker just couldn't get into the holiday spirit.  Maybe his mom should have set up 2 Christmas trees and decorated the outside of his house with lights.  *Actually, this is how I found him after Noah had been playing.  Poor guy.

The Indians Came to Dinner

My mom is one of the most creative people.  She came to my house with suitcases loaded with loincloths.  The boys loved decorating them and then stringing beads for their necklaces.  They thought that indians at Thanksgiving would be perfect.  I think that they are all pretty cute.  Jag insisted that I go into the costume box and find his jedi pants.  He also refused to wear a shirt, but I made him during dinner with the threat of hot gravy filling his belly button.
What a fat Indian Princess.  She was loving the pilgrim.

This was our vegetable centerpiece that mom spent too much time on...Ha.  It looked better on the recipe card that was quickly tossed into the trash.
My friends, The Wall Family, joined us for dinner.
Davis quickly gorged himself and then was almost too sick for pie.  Almost.

Zoo Trip with Grandma

My mom came to rescue me and spend Thanksgiving with us. It was a WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL (so good that I need it in caps and twice) visit. The weather was great and the company better. It was so nice having all that help. The kids loved having grandma to play with. They loved showing her around the zoo.

The boys were ready to go.  Jag had strep throat and the younger kids needed a nap!  Hurray for the zoo, sunshine, and grandma.
